Any procedure that requires removing the hair out of the follicle is going to cause some discomfort.

Going to a professional who practices proper timing and technique will yield that discomfort to a bare minimum. 

The first time can be the worst, not because of any pain factor, typically because your anxiety is through the roof.

You will experience something different. It's the first time that the hair is passing through the follicle, especially if you've been shaving, but once your hair structure starts changing because of waxing, it becomes so much easier.

Avoid applying heat to the area for 12 to 24 hours. This includes baths, saunas and steam.

Avoid sun tanning for 12 to 24 hours. This includes any strong ultraviolet (UV) light exposure or tanning bed treatments.

Avoid applying highly fragranced products to the waxed area. This includes perfumes, scented body lotions, anti-perspirants, cosmetics or feminine hygiene sprays.

Slight pinking of the skin is normal and indicates that the hair was removed from the root, rather than superficially broken off as in shaving. This is the reason waxing last so much longer.
